James Cameron: Saving the planet more important than Oscars
Celebrity
At Global Green’s Pre-Oscar party, just days before the most important annual event in Hollywood history — the Academy Awards — Oscar-winning director James Cameron blasphemed.
“Let’s not talk about the Oscars,” he told press. “We’re here to talk about something so much more important than the Oscars. I really think that’s not critical.” A hush fell over the stunned red carpet. Instead the Avatar director talked about climate change and the environment, advising everyone educate themselves about climate change. “Maybe Avatar makes you feel like you have to do something, you feel it in your heart. But it doesn’t tell you what to do. That’s why organizations like Global Green are so important.”
“We all know what we’re supposed to do, recycling and all that. But don’t just go home and separate all your bottles and cans and think you’re saving the earth,” he stressed. “Go home, get online and find out the facts about climate change. And then the next time you hear some crap on talk radio or Fox News, you’ll know the truth. Don’t get your science from demagogues. Get your science from scientists.”
When asked if it was up to celebrities or up to Barack Obama., Cameron shot back: “It’s definitely not up to our so-called leaders. They only react in fear based on the polls and they only tell us what they think we want to hear to get re-elected. It’s up to us as citizens, to become educated, take action and to vote wisely. Vote Green.
He also feels that Hollywood has historically stepped up to the challenges this nation has faced, noting that movie Jimmy Stewart and top director John Ford quit their jobs and went to fight in WWII.
Cameron’s wife Suzie Amis has founded a Green School to educate children. They both contribute to non-profit environmental action organizations and Cameron has founded own organization which will be funded by future profits from Avatar movies.

Uh yeah,….
I’ll definitely always take my junk science advice from a guy poised to make money off the green bandwagon. Even Gore is discredited, only the most fanatical true believers are buying this bilge anymore. Strange how the most dogmatic followers of this are so rich there’re shielded from the sacrifices they demand of us mere mortals.
When he gives up the chartered jets and footprint the size of Alaska, he might get a hearing.
Love your comment!!! Could not agree more.

I will do what I must to “save the world” IF and when responsible, depoliticized SCIENCE is presented; science which has first been validated and reproduced through the process of unbiased peer review.
Until that time, I refuse to believe discredited charlatans like Gore, much less, egomaniacal Hollywood producers with Messiah Complexes.
Nor will I stand for being taxed even more in the name of junk science environmentalist-activist causes. Enough is enough.
Come on James, aim high! Save the Solar System or don’t bother to get out of bed in the morning.
people need 2 get educated, I love the code talkING, U stupid people who don’t believe what US rich people believe. How would u like 2 b the kids taught ! a green SCHOOL
James Cameron who wanted a debate on global warming, changed all the rules, demanded more changes , all accepted and then backed out?
He’s still Canadian. Why is he telling Americans how to vote? Also, Avatar sucked.
It’s probably because he’s not nominated this year … you think?
Being that his industry uses enormous amounts of fuel to create a mere two-hour piece of entertainment, he should probably shut up.
I is a lot easier to put up with the insane ramblings of a billionaire who spews more carbon out in a month then I do in 20 years when life is good. With people are losing homes and their life’s work in no time it is just annoying to listen to an ass like Cameron. In fact the whole gang in Hollyweird is just annoying now. I have stopped going to movies and do not see resuming this any time soon.
