Should Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore cohost the Oscars in 2012

After seeing Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore present a Career Achievement Award — in tandem — to esteemed eccentric costume designer Julie Weiss at the Costume Designers Guild Awards last night, I had a light bulb of an idea.

Call me crazy (so many have) but I kinda think Ashton and Demi would make perfect Oscar cohosts next year. Nothing against James Franco and Anne Hathaway. I’m sure they will do just fine on Sunday (Feb. 27). Even though the released promos have us a little worried.

But Ash and Demi seem to have a natural chemistry and a flirty familiarity that could totally work. Plus they are serious fashionistas to boot. Think of the costume changes!

Watch the video and see what you think. If you’re in favor, I will contact the Academy toute suite and put a bug in their ears. By the way, I’ve sat on Julie’s  love seat with the actual love letters from her grandfather to her grandmother.  It’s real. Check out my story on the amazing Julie that ran on the TheEnvelope.com a few years ago.

Sally Hershberger’s new SLS Styling Salon is open for Oscars

Sally Hershberger — who revolutionized Hollywood hair with her infamous Meg Ryan choppy shag — has a few ideas on what the hot hair styles will be at the Oscars. She’s predicting wavy bobs, low back updos and Anne Hathaway-like center-parted waves.

And just time for the Oscars, Sally has just opened a  Styling Studio in the SLS Hotel — located in it’s Ciel Spa.

It’s designed for women (and men) who want a quieter, more intimate service, from specialized blow drys, full-on curling sessions and intricate edgy updos. Say you spent the day shopping, at the beach, working, and forgot you have a cocktail party, a dinner or (gasp) a photo shoot to go to. And of course  it’s also perfect for Oscar party going actresses next week who might want to change their hair from an afternoon lunch look to an Oscar evening party scene style. Want more deets?

James Franco, Anne Hathaway’s Oscar (yawn) promo

James Franco and Anne Hathaway‘s latest Oscar 2011 promo has just been released. We really liked their first Oscar training video, pumping iron with the gold statues, etc.

But somehow this one feels a little bit .. how to put this politely.. slow, painfully awkward, unfunny and yes, we’ll say it, downright boring. Except for the part about Anne planning to break a toe for their Black Swan skit.

What do you think? Does this promo make you want to watch the Oscars? Or does it make you want to DVR it so you can fast forward through for the winner’s speeches?

Anne Hathaway refuses to play dating games

Instead of talking about their new film, “Rio,” at the junket last week, costars Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx and George Lopez talk about relationships, dating in LA, honesty and the difference between men and woman.

Needless to say, Jamie has some very unusual ideas about dating in LA where, he says, girls have to play a little hard to get. “I love that I will date a girl and they will always put little in front of everything I do.” Yeah, that’s what we thought and so did Anne and George and the room full of reporters. But then he explained what he meant and it actually made sense.

Jamie Foxx’s hosting advice for Ricky Gervais: gift baskets

Jamie Foxx prepared for playing  a yellow party bird in the new 3D animated bird movie, “Rio,” by sleeping in a bed of feathers every night. Yeah, right.

But Jamie wasn’t kidding around when he dished out hosting advice for Ricky Gervais. Seems Foxx was in the Globes audience that night and thought Ricky was hysterical. But he couldn’t understand why some people seemed to find Ricky’s jokes about Cher, Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, etc, offensive.

‘Rio’ sneak beak proves Anne Hathaway can host Oscars

After watching Anne Hathaway wing it (sorry) at the “Rio” press junket on the 20th Century Fox lot Friday, we have no worries about her Oscar co-hosting gig with James Franco.

Anne was adept at adding sincerity, humor, personal insight and a few clever retorts talking with her director Carlos Saldanha and costar Jamie Foxx during the screening of selections from  the adorable animated film about a bird who has to learn how to fly. She even took her platform heels off so she wouldn’t be taller than Saldanha and admitted to bowel-clenching terror at having to sing in front of Sergio and will.i.am.

Anne Hathaway’s Oscar chemistry with James Franco

Anne Hathaway hit the blue carpet on the 20th Century Fox lot on Friday (Jan. 28) to talk about playing a fearless blue macaw in the new animated 3D film, “Rio,” from the creators of “Ice Age.” Of course, all the reporters wanted to ask Anne how her Oscar host rehearsals are going, what costume changes she’s going to make and her chemistry with her co-host, the Oscar nominated actor James Franco (“127 Hours”)

Anne brushed off some queries, merely saying that she hoped her chemistry with James Franco was “Good, I hope.” But she did admit — refreshingly — that she has had to learn to trust the people around her, both on the animated film and for her upcoming Oscar co-hosting stint.
