Diane Kruger got wet with Liam Neeson in ‘Unknown’

Diane Kruger has some pretty harrowing scenes in Unknown, the new Hitchcockian thriller starring Liam Neeson and January Jones. Right off the bat, Diane’s involved in car crash that send her taxi careening over a bridge into a Berlin river. This crash sets off a chain of events that will keep you guessing for two hours. To say Liam’s character has an identity crisis is putting it mildly. Even his wife doesn’t recognize him. But Kruger helps him unravel the complex truth. And I promise, you will not figure it out!

Diane talked at last week’s junket about the demanding stunts, how she finally got her underwater closeup and how much she enjoyed playing a female character with an interesting back story, not just the girl who runs with the protagonist. As always, we think it’s more fun for you to hear the actors actually talking rather than reading what they said.

Watch and enjoy.

‘Unknown’ star January Jones says NO to good girl roles

After playing  a horrible mother/ice queen on AMC’s hit TV series,  Mad Men, does January Jones want to play more good girls in her film roles?

Absolutely not.

“What fun is that, just being sweet?”  January countered at the press junket for her new film, Unknown, last week.  “Am I typecast as being horrible? Maybe. That’s kinda great, isn’t it? The quote unquote ‘sweet’ role , as you said, can be kind of boring, so I will try to stay away from that, for everyone’s sake. ”

In the UnKnown, a Hitchcockian espionage thriller, she plays the wife of a scientist (Liam Neeson) who loses his identity after a car crash in Berlin. And her loyalty is suspect shortly after he recovers and she claims not to know him. Next up, she will play Nic Cage‘s assaulted wife in The Hungry Rabbit Jumps. Then comes her  next ice queen, the manipulative, mind-reading mutant Emma Frost (the younger version) in X-Men: First Class.

Liam Neeson reveals fitness secret: ‘Lots of sex’

Liam Neeson — star of the new film, “Unknown,” talked at the LA junket on Saturday (Feb. 5)  about his new career as an action hero at age 58. Oops. Make that 37. He also said he is reminded of Burt Lancaster who famously said  of his varying film career: “I act with my hair.”

Neeson explained that Lancaster used to put on a hairpiece for the big studio movies and leave it off for art house films. This, of course, begged the question, “Did you wear a wig in this movie?” Neeson skirted that query and got right to another reporter’s deeper probe on how he stays in shape for physically demanding roles such as the lead in this admirable homage to Alfred Hitchcock‘s suspenseful classics.

The former boxer professed to do “the usual thing” to stay fit and “my own private stuff.” Then he cracked everyone up by throwing the real secret — “Lots of sex” –  out there. After which he grinned and said, “That’ll open it up.”

Interestingly, no one asked a follow-up question or a question about his rumored relationship with his beautiful “Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” costar Australian actress Laura Brent. And that shows how much the reporters respect Neeson, who had to deal with the shocking sudden death of his beloved wife, Natasha Richardson in 2009, after what was thought to be a minor skiing accident brought on a brain bleed.
