Mike Huckabee slams Natalie Portman for being unwed, pregnant

Mike Huckabee, an arch-conservative politician who is rumored to be considering a run for President in 2012 just lost any Hollywood support  he might have hoped for.

On Michael Medved‘s radio talk show, Huckabee accused Natalie Portman, who is pregnant and engaged to be married to Benjamin Millepied of glorifying out-of-wedlock pregnancy and sending a bad message to young girls. After Medved brought up Natalie’s Oscar speech, during which  she thanked her fiance for giving her “the most wonderful gift of all,” Huckabee to that as his cue to bring up the single poor young black mother issue.

Natalie Portman condemns John Galliano’s ‘I love Hitler’

Oscar-winning Black Swan star Natalie Portman has released a statement regarding John Galliano’s professed love of Adolf Hitler.

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today,” said Portman, who appears in ad campaigns for Miss Dior Cherie perfume. “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”

She added: “I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

Well said, Natalie.

Entertainment Weekly pre-SAG bash is TV’s family night

The Screen Actors Guild awards are over, everyone won whom we thought would win, we’ve picked our fashion favorites and its time to move on. But first, lets flashback to Saturday night, to a fabulous party when everyone was still a winner.

Entertainment Weekly had their pre-SAG party — sponsored by L’Oreal — at the famous Chateau Marmont Saturday night. On the rather short red carpet running up the driveway to the historic hotel, “Glee” star Jenna Ushkowitz told us about recently taking up running. “I was totally Yoga Girl but I just started running and doing Runyon Canyon and I love it.”

Globes Fashion surprise: Natalie Portman in Viktor and Rolf?

Everyone — including the Dish Rag — predicted that Natalie Portman would probably wear Rodarte or Dior to the Golden Globes. After all, Rodarte designed the ballet tutus for “The Black Swan” and Natalie is under contract to Dior, although not for fashion.

But style surprise! She showed up looking stunning in a pale pink satin empire waist gown by another one of her favorite designers, Viktor and Rolf  We love the appliqued rose at the bodice.

Natalie Portman says ‘Black Swan’ spoofs are a tribute

Natalie Portman is one step closer to an Oscar! She picked up the Best Actress awards Friday (Jan. 14) at the Critics Choice Awards for her prima ballerina part in “Black Swan.” And she’s up for another round on Sunday night (Jan. 16) at the Golden Globes.

Backstage, the pregnant star posed for photos with her huge crystal Best Actress award and talked about the similarities between actresses and ballerinas.

“I think one of the interesting things, and because I started so young acting, you get used to seeing yourself out of your body. I think dancers have that a lot with all the mirrors. They’re used to seeing the reflection of themselves rather than being themselves. I think that happened to the character a lot where she sees herself out of her body in her life. It’s a struggle as an actor to remain rooted and anchored to yourself while being so aware of what you look like to other people.” ”

Jake Gyllenhaal drops an F-bomb for Natalie Portman

Jake Gyllenhaal introduction to his pal Natalie Portman was the highlight of the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards on Saturday (Jan. 8).

Livening up the long night of awards  handed to “The Social Network,” Javier Bardem, Carey Mulligan and Ben Affleck, Jake got everyone’s attention when he noted that the night’s emcee Mary Hart wasn’t wearing any underwear. Then he poked gentle fun at his good friend Natalie, describing her as the “Audrey Hepburn of our generation”, citing such attributes as “elegant, graceful, has amazing eyebrows, talented, really short, funny, smart, incredibly kind and Jewish.”

But quite a few elderly jaws dropped when he described her “Black Swan” performance as “really f–king good.”
