Rob Reiner’s winning senior moment at AARP Awards

“Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner woke everyone up at Monday night’s AARP: The Magazine’s Movies for Grownups Awards  (Feb. 7). Then he got the whole Beverly Regent Wilshire ballroom laughing so hard that their black satin napkins slid off their laps. Again!

First, he thanked his father — Carl Reiner — for making love to his mother 64 years ago. Rob says his mother and father only did it three times but his dad Carl shouted from offstage that it was the “best experience” of his life and insisted they did it ten times. Whatever.

Then Rob thanked AARP for making changes to the award (they added a box of popcorn and a soda) which he said used to look like an electric chair. It’s supposed to be a theatre seat. But he told them two years ago that it really looked like “euthanasia.” Oh, and the napkins were also problematic.
