What made Andrew Garfield fall for Carey Mulligan?

“Social Network” star Andrew Garfield talks about when he fell in love with his “Never Let Me Go” love interest Carey Mulligan.

Introducing her at the Palm Springs Film Fest Awards Saturday (Jan. 8) he describes the first time they met at a cast and crew dinner.

“There was a point in the dinner when we were all going around the table and talking about our favorite film. We were all being very pretentious.. I could see her getting very nervous and fidgety, very red. It was coming closer to her turn, and these words tumbled out of her, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” And I fell in love with her.  It just this uncontrolled moment of honesty that she couldn’t hold in and I think that is one of the many things about her that makes her so compelling to watch.”

He went on: “She is full of opposites, vulnerable, powerful, earnest yet irrverent, lucricously beautiful but lacking in vanity enough to rock a mullet with pride.”

‘Social Network’ Jesse Eisenberg doesn’t own a TV

So I found out something surprising at the Palm Springs Film Festival this weekend.  “The Social Network” star Jesse Eisenberg not only hasn’t checked out his competition  in the 2011 Best Film awards category. He doesn’t watch movies, claims to have a very strange attention span, finds movies intimidating and he doesn’t even own a TV and (are you ready) or have a DVD player in his computer. Somebody get this guy an iPad, stat.

Check out the video for more insight into Jesse, such as the fact that he has no idea what he would like to ask Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg, has absolutely no clue what designer he’s wearing and he puts on whatever is on the  hanger someone hands him before he goes out to an event.

How much do we love this nervous but adorably honest actor? Can’t wait to hear his Oscar acceptance speech.

‘Social Network’ Armie Hammer: No kiss for ‘Hoover’ Leo DiCaprio

Armie Hammer,  who adeptly plays the Winkelvoss twins in “Social Network,” has yet another challenging role ahead of him.  He’s playing J. Edgar Hoover‘s rumored gay lover and right hand man (perhaps literally) Clyde Toulson, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood‘s new film about the founder/ head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Hammer, who hasn’t even met Eastwood or DiCaprio yet, talked a bit about researching his upcoming role on the Palm Springs Film Festival red carpet Saturday (Jan. 8). But he also insists that there’s no confirmation of the two men’s homosexual relationship. OK, but we’ve heard that the script calls for Hoover and Toulson to kiss (after a fight) after which Hoover brings Toulson in as his colleague at the FBI.
